Yesterday I bought my first Chinese Language instruction book... actually 8 CDs and no book. I've almost made it through CD 1 and realize that I'll need a book to supplement the oral learning. I guess I'm the kind of learner who likes to see things written out - it helps me absorb them. I did buy a small Chinese phrasebook and was able to match some of the words from the CDs with written phrases. As soon as I saw "piaoliang de" (beautiful) written phonetically, I was better able to emulate the native speaker on the CD.
I'm looking forward to learning Chinese!
